Mounted in the lower casing near the propeller area, this sacrificial anode is there to corrode before the surrounding gearcase parts do.

Replacing it in time helps protect the lower unit from saltwater and galvanic attack, which is why it remains a routine-service Parsun outboard motor part on F15, F20A, and F25 models.
